Books 2026

This is for Everyone, Tim Berners-Lee
Jan 2025
The World Wide Web is not the Internet! I enjoyed the first half of this book, learning about the development of standards that allowed the web to flourish. The early internet sounds like something I would enjoy, and that this blog would fit into. The latter half spoke more about how Big Tech have a stranglehold on the vast majority of traffic and eyeballs, and about the shift toward AI.
Everest 1938 Account - Tilman H. W
Jan 2025
An account of a smaller budget Everest Expedition in 1938. With the world on the brink of war, they took the northern approach from Tibet, which would subsequently be off limits for many decades. While they didn’t succeed, it was part of the Everest story.
High Adventure, Edmund Hillary
Jan 2025
Hillary’s account of his climbing career, culminating in the successful summit of Everest in 1953. There were tidbits that I did not previously know, especially around the relationship between the climbers and sherpa’s.
